Man Utd legend Cole, Arsenal icon Seaman blast Awoniyi for missed first half chance v Red Devils

Manchester United legend Andy Cole and Arsenal icon David Seaman both criticized the goal scoring chance wasted by Nigeria international, Taiwo Awoniyi in Nottingham Forest's 2-0 defeat against Manchester United at the City Ground on Sunday evening.

Awoniyi, who made a return to the Forest's starting lineup having missed some important matches, was presented with a chance to level for the home side just before the break.

Awoniyi ended up hammering the ball over the crossbar which the duo of Seaman and Cole reacted to as they analyzed the match for Premier League Productions at halftime of the game.

Cole, a former Man United, Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers striker said:

"That was a side foot all day long for me. David de Gea's left hand, that's where I'm going. He's laid it perfectly for him. He (Awoniyi) doesn't need to go wide of Diogo Dalot because he's in a good position.

"If you touch him, it's a penalty. So he can actually gamble and take a touch. If he takes a touch and pushes it past him, it's a penalty," Cole noted.

On his part, legendary Arsenal goalkeeper, Seaman faulted the self-confidence of the former Union Berlin striker when he needed a calm composure.

"I think he should be more composed here (moment Awoniyi missed the chance).

"It just looks like he's put his foot through the ball rather than guiding it into the side. It was a terrible touch there. It wasn't fantastic, just smash it," Seaman stated.

Nottingham Forest conceded a second goal in the 76th minute when United defender, Diogo Dalot showed the Nigerian striker how he should have done with a great goal from an Antony assist.

Forest remain in relegation dogfight as they currently have 27 points and are eighteenth in the table.
