Former Aston Villa striker expects Folarin Balogun to be sold in the summer
Published: April 16, 2023Former Aston Villa forward, Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested that Arsenal should sell Folarin Balogun this summer as he is not good enough to play for Mikel Arteta's side.
Balogun is on loan with French Ligue 1 outfit, Stade de Reims and has been in exceptional form for the Red and Whites, scoring 19 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Balogun's contract with the Gunners ends in 2025 and is being linked with a permanent departure from the north London club before the close of the summer transfer window.
Clubs in the top five European Leagues are interested in the England U21 international of Nigerian descent.
Asked if Balogun should move on this summer, Agbonlahor said to Football Insider : "I think so. He's done well in France, but I don't think he's Arsenal standard.
"They're going to be in the Champions League next season, they need another proven striker to compete with Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus.
"I don't think Arsenal would use him next season if he came back.
"Him scoring goals in France has helped the club. Now they can put him up for sale and name their price.
"It’s definitely a sale waiting for Arsenal to make."
Balogun is a graduate of Arsenal's Hale End Academy and has only featured on two occasions in the Premier League for the senior team.
