Confirmed: Nigeria-eligible striker returns to Arsenal after loan spell at Accrington Stanley
Published: May 20, 2023With a statement on their official website, EFL League One club Accrington Stanley have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
According to EFL rules, clubs must upload their list of retained and released players to an online portal before midnight on the third Saturday in May.
Accrington Stanley have confirmed that Nigeria-eligible striker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has returned to his parent club Arsenal following the end of his loan spell.
The Hale End Academy product made a surprise move to the 'Owd Reds' in the January transfer window in search of first team football but tactical decisions by the manager saw his playing opportunities limited.
Butler-Oyedeji made five starts from a possible twenty one in the League One, and was in action for 485 minutes spread across eleven matches.
Prior to his temporary switch to the demoted League One club, he was named in two gameday squads by Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, against Newcastle United in the Premier League and Oxford United in the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, 2019 Flying Eagles invitee Korede Adedoyin has had his contract extension triggered, while Leslie Adekoya is still under contract for the 2023-2024 season.
