'He is an incredible weapon that everyone wants' - Gent boss lavishes praise on Orban
Published: May 27, 2023Gent boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck has praised Nigerian striker, Gift Orban for his magnificent prowess in front of goal.
Orban has been firing on all cylinders since moving to Gent. in the January transfer window from the Norwegian side, Stabæk.
He hit the ground running from his first game in the Belgian Pro League, netting a brace in Gent's 3-3 draw with KVC Westerlo.
The former Stabæk forward has gone on to score a haul against Zulte Waregem, a hat-trick against Cercle Brugge in the Jupiler Pro League European playoffs and also netted the fastest treble in UEFA competition against Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Europa Conference league.
The 20-year-old has averaged one goal per game for the Buffalos having scored 20 goals in 20 games so far, which is the highest for the club since his arrival.
"I saw him again this week in training scoring two or three great balls in just a few minutes."Vanhaezebrouck said to Het Nieuwsblad.
"I haven't seen that very often. It just stays that way, our mouths often fall open. Will he surprise me? No, it's just enjoyment, every day we watch with a smile on our face.
"He is an incredible weapon that everyone wants."
Gent are set to face a dilemma on Orban's future as he has caught the attention of several suitors in Europe.
French side, Lille are said to have contacted his representatives while Manchester and Chelsea have also sent scouts to watch him.
