Cremonese knock back Rangers first bid to sign Super Eagles striker
Published: June 05, 2023Cremonese has reportedly rejected Glasgow Rangers' first offer for Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers.
According to Daily Record, Rangers tabled a substantial bid to Cremonese for the services of the Nigerian striker but had it rejected.
Per the report, the Italian outfit wants to recoup as much as £6 million they paid KRC Genk for his services last summer.
Rangers have identified the Nigerian forward as a suitable replacement for the departed Alfredo Morelos and he is also admired by the club's manager Michael Beale.
Getting a striker is one of the priorities for Beale and Dessers is one of his top targets.
The 26-year-old started twenty games from a possible 43 in all competitions in his maiden season at Cremonese and came on as a substitute nine times.
He ended the season with seven goals and two assists in all competitions for the just-relegated side.
The Nigerian forward made a name for himself in the Eredivisie where he won the Golden Boot in the curtailed 2019/2020 season, scoring 15 goals for Heracles Almelo.
He also won the Europa Conference League award while playing on loan with Feyenoord in the 2021/2022 season.
