Lille ahead of Burnley in race for Gift Orban but Gent playing hardball over striker's transfer
Published: June 07, 2023Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that French Ligue 1 club Lille are in the driving seat to sign Gift Orban but face a stumbling block in their pursuit of the prolific Nigerian striker.
Lille are lining up Orban as a possible replacement for their in-demand center forward Jonathan David, who has been heavily linked with a departure from The Mastiffs in the summer transfer window.
Gent have not changed their stance on their January recruit from Norwegian outfit Stabæk Fotball despite speculation linking him with clubs in the big five European Leagues.
The Buffalo's are not looking to sell Orban in the summer market so it will take an offer too good to turn down in order to convince them to part company with the precocious attacker.
At the moment, no asking price has been set for Orban who cost Gent around three million euros in January.
Premier League newcomers Burnley have been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old but there's nothing concrete to suggest that Vincent Kompany will be pursuing a deal for the Nigerian in this window.
This website can authoritatively report that the Clarets have made no contact whatsoever with either Orban or his camp.
Orban tallied twenty goals in twenty two all-competition appearances for Gent in the recently concluded season, including a record-breaking hat-trick against İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. in the Europa Conference League.
