Tottenham Hotspur to prioritize a move for AFCON 2021 star over Fulham CB Tosin
Published: June 22, 2023Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to prioritize a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Burkina Faso international Edmond Tapsoba over Fulham central defender of Nigerian descent Tosin Adarabioyo.
Tapsoba has seen his stock rise since the conclusion of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where he was named in the official Team of the Tournament by the Confederation of African Football.
One of the top central defenders in the Bundesliga last season, Tapsoba is heavily tipped to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer as Tottenham Hotspur have started concrete contacts to negotiate a possible deal.
According to Italian transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano, Tosin is one of the options being monitored by Tottenham as new centre-back, but Tapsoba is the top candidate and talks will take place in the next few days.
Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for new central defenders following the return of Clément Lenglet to his parent club Barcelona, and in view of the possible departures of Davinson Sánchez and Japhet Tanganga
Tosin has decided to leave Fulham this summer and with a year left on his contract, the Cottagers could be forced to sell him in this transfer window or risk losing him for nothing in a year's time.
Since joining Fulham three years ago, the Manchester City academy product has appeared in 58 matches in the Premier League, scoring one goal.
