Ex-Tottenham defender insists Super Eagles midfielder would be a great addition to Celtic

Speculation has intensified over the future of Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City.

The holding midfielder is believed to be one of the Foxes players available for a transfer following the club's relegation to the Championship on the final day of the 2022-2023 season.

New Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly eyeing a reunion with Ndidi who played under the Northern Irish football tactician at Leicester City for four years, making 138 appearances in which he directly participated in eleven goals.

Leicester City signed the Nath Boys product from Racing Genk in exchange for seventeen million euros in January 2017.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender, Alan Hutton, has underlined that Ndidi would be a good addition to the Celtic team, and suggested that the Hoops could land the Nigerian for a fee in the region of £7million.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: "They are going to have to pay decent money for him. But this always happens when a manager goes to a new club, these links always pop up.

"Of course a defensive midfielder of that quality makes your team even better.

"They might be in a position to spend big on him. Champions League football is guaranteed, they might be in a position to spend £7m, £8m or £9m on a player."

Once rated as Nigeria's most valuable player, Ndidi's market valuation has dwindled due to a combination of inconsistent form for club and country, and months he has left on his current contract.
