Rangers face competition from Fulham, Valladolid, Anderlecht for Super Eagles striker
Published: June 24, 2023Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are in a transfer race for the services of Nigeria international Josh Maja in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Glasgow Times, making reference to Voetbal Nieuws, says that Rangers face fresh competition from European clubs for the signature of Bordeaux striker Josh Maja.
Per the report, it is also claimed that Anderlecht, Fulham and Valladolid are pushing to sign the Sunderland academy product.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported last June that Anderlecht were interested in Maja but the deal did not eventually happen, with the striker staying at Bordeaux for the 2022-2023 season.
Although Rangers are weighing up a move for the Nigerian, it is believed that he is not currently at the top of the shortlist.
The Light Blues recently completed the signing of Dutchman Sam Lammers from Atalanta and they have been heavily linked with a swoop for another Nigerian striker in Cremonese's Cyriel Dessers.
Maja's agent has close links with Rangers, having brokered the deals that took Joe Aribo and former Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei to Ibrox.
Maja's contract with Bordeaux expires at the end of this month and he's unlikely to sign an extension as things stand.
