Kolpak ruling: Tottenham target applies for Nigerian passport amid interest from Monaco, Inter
Published: July 05, 2023Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Fulham central defender Tosin Adarabioyo has applied for a Nigerian passport amid concrete interest from French and Italian topflight clubs.
Before recently applying for a Nigerian passport, the Manchester-born player was in possession of a British passport.
It must be stressed that Tosin applying for a Nigerian passport has nothing to do with switching his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
However, Tosin is not turning his back on the Super Eagles and he has not changed his association to Nigeria because he is focused on establishing himself at a top European club before making a decision on his international future.
The Manchester City academy product is genuinely a player of interest to Tottenham Hotspur, who have identified him as a possible reinforcement at centre-back.
Tottenham Hotspur must act fast to close the deal as Monaco are seriously pushing to sign him, while Inter Milan hold concrete interest in the player too.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are mulling over a move for Tosin but nothing is concrete as of now.
The 25-year-old has applied for a Nigerian passport because he would qualify as an EU player were he to join a French Ligue 1 club or move to the Italian Serie A on account of the Cotonou Agreement and the Kolpak Ruling.
Nigeria is a member of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States and also a signatory to the Cotonou Agreement.
