'He is a great talent' - SJK coach hails Arsenal GK Ejeheri after 21 clean sheets since August
Published: July 09, 2023SJK Seinajoki have said goodbye to Arsenal goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri following the conclusion of his loan spell at the Finnish Veikkausliiga club.
Having impressed during a loan spell at National League South side Chelmsford City in the first half of the 2022-2023 campaign, the 2023 Flying Eagles invitee headed to Finland to complete the season at SJK Seinajoki.
Ejeheri kept another clean sheet in his final game as a player of SJK on Saturday as the Seinäjoki-based club.defeated Honka 1-0.
Overall, the Hale End Academy graduate has posted 21 clean sheets in all competitions since making his senior debut in August, comprising twelve in the colours of Chelmsford City and nine for SJK Seinäjoki.
Statistically, the 20-year-old is the best goalkeeper in the entire Finnish Veikkausliiga, having conceded eight goals in fourteen appearances in the division, two less than KuPS' former Austria U21 international Johannes Kreidl.
SJK coach Joaquín Gómez spoke highly of the Arsenal goalkeeper after his last game, labeling him 'a great talent'.
"He is a great talent, and he had a great impact on our game. I hope he continues to develop all the way to the top of the world," Gómez told SJK's official website.
"This was a great success for our club as well, and this will help us build relationships with Arsenal and hopefully other big clubs as well.
"We showed that young players can develop here."
Ejeheri will now head on holiday after a hectic season that saw him play 43 matches combined for Chelmsford City and SJK, and he's expected to resume training at Arsenal in August.
