Confirmed: Balogun returns for second spell with Rangers
Published: July 12, 2023With a statement on their official website, Glasgow Rangers have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun.
Balogun was signed for no fee having become a free agent upon the expiration of his contract with English side, Queens Park Rangers and has penned a one-year deal with the Light Blues subject to International clearance.
This will be the experienced defender's second stint at Ibrox having previously played for Rangers from 2020-2022, featuring in 65 games in all competitions.
In his previous spell with the club, he played a vital role as they lifted the Scottish Premiership in 2021 and the Scottish Cup in 2022.
Rangers had to sign a defender after the confirmation that young center back Leon King will be out for a lengthy period due to an ankle injury.
Rangers' manager, Micheal Beale has also previously stated his desire to add more experience to his squad and the Super Eagles center back will offer that both on and off the pitch.
The 35-year-old will be the second Nigerian International to join the Glasgow-based club in this transfer window, after Cyriel Dessers who was acquired from Cremonese last week.
