PL new boys Burnley interested in former Nigeria U23 international
Published: July 14, 2023English Premier League newcomers Burnley are being linked with a possible move for former Nigeria U23 international David Okereke.
Italian transfer market website Tuttomercatoweb reported on Thursday night that Burnley are looking to bolster their attack with the acquisition of the highly-rated Cremonese forward Okereke.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that the Clarets have the Nigerian on their radar but have not yet made a bid for his services.
Okereke is looked after by Patrick Bastianelli's PB Sport and it is understood that the agency has close links with Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.
Unarguably, the 25-year-old was the shining light in what was a poor season for Cremonese, scoring nine goals and registering three assists in 38 all-competition appearances in 2022-2023.
With Cremonese losing their top-flight status at the end of last season, Okereke's next destination has been a subject of speculation in recent weeks.
Apart form Burnley, Okereke is also on the wishlist of Italian Serie A clubs as well as Besiktas who are pushing to sign him.
The former Club Brugge, Venezia and Spezia man has a contract with Cremonese until June 30, 2025.
