Everton register interest in signing 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner
Published: July 18, 2023Premier League side Everton are the latest club linked with a move for 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner Kelechi Iheanacho in the summer transfer window.
According to Football Insider, the Toffees have registered their interest in signing Leicester City striker Iheanancho.
Although Iheanacho has reported for pre-season training at Leicester City and participated in their first two friendly matches, there are doubts over the future of the Super Eagles star at the King Power Stadium following the Foxes' relegation to the Championship at the end of last season.
And with a year left on his contract, the Foxes could be forced to sell the Manchester City academy product this summer rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the forthcoming campaign.
Everton are believed to be in the market for an attacker having struggled for goals last campaign - scoring the second-fewest goals for any side in the Premier League (34).
Iheanacho is classed as a homegrown player by the Premier League as he spent the formative years of his career in England at Manchester City, hence, he will command a decent transfer fee despite entering the last twelve months of his contract.
The 26-year-old has logged 196 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 42 goals and setting up his teammates on 28 occasions.
