Confirmed: Chelsea-owned Strasbourg sign Super Eagles-eligible striker
Published: July 22, 2023Through official channels, Strasbourg have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles-eligible striker Emanuel Emegha from SK Strum Graz in Austria.
Last month, Chelsea kickstarted their multi-club project by buying a majority stake in Strasbourg for a fee of £65 million.
Emegha, who is also eligible to represent the Netherlands and Togo at international level, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Strasbourg.
The 20-year-old was a key player in the Sturm Graz side that won the Austrian Cup in 2022-2023.
In 36 competitive games for Sturm Graz following his move from Royal Antwerp, he scored ten goals and registered five assists.
According to French sports daily L'Equipe, the Dutch-Nigerian-Togolese striker was also on the radar of Chelsea, and a player admired by Patrick Vieira.
Emegha will now work with the Arsenal legend who was appointed as the new coach of Strasbourg around three weeks ago.
A product of the Sparta Rotterdam academy, he played 39 games for the Dutch club before joining Antwerp in January 2022.
