Official: Nigeria native finally joins Super Eagles playmaker Iwobi at Everton
Published: July 23, 2023Premier League club Everton now have two Lagos-born attack-minded players in their first team ranks ahead of the forthcoming season, with the Toffees announcing the capture of Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma on Sunday morning.
The cap-tied Netherlands international of Nigerian descent links up with Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park.
In one of the soap operas of the January transfer window, it seemed Danjuma was heading to Everton after the Premier League side and Villarreal reached a club-to-club agreement for the loan signing of the winger, only for the player to change his mind at the last minute.
Danjuma has Premier League experience, making twenty three appearances combined for Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old has joined Everton on a season-long loan with no purchase obligation included in the agreement between the Spanish and English clubs.
Danjuma has rubbed shoulders with Super Eagles players in the past as he was teammates with Taiwo Awoniyi at NEC Nijmegen in 2016-17, Emmanuel Dennis at Club Brugge in 2018-2019 and linked up with Samuel Chukwueze at Villarreal in August 2021.
Chukwueze is on the brink of departing Villarreal too but on a permanent basis, with AC Milan his likely destination.
