Preston North End interested in son of former Super Eagles striker
Published: July 23, 2023Preston North End are the latest club linked with a move for Dominic Iorfa, who is the son of former Super Eagles striker with the same name.
According to Football League World making reference to Alan Nixon via Patreon, Preston North End are keen on snapping up Iorfa before the close of the summer transfer window and manager Ryan Lowe wants the deal done.
The future of the 2014 Nigeria U23 invitee has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with a year to run on his contract with Championship new boys Sheffield Wednesday.
Croatian SuperSport HNL champions Dinamo Zagreb have expressed in signing Iorfa too and now face competition from the English Football League for his services.
A central defender who can also be deployed at right-back, Iorfa is an experienced campaigner in the Championship with 170 games under his belt and would be an ideal signing for Preston North End.
With a year left on his contract, this is Sheffield Wednesday's best chance to cash in on him if he does not sign a new deal as he would leave on a free transfer next summer.
Iorfa has been heavily involved in Sheffield Wednesday's pre-season activities as he was given minutes in the friendlies against York City, Chesterfield, Real Murcia and CD Eldense, and this confirms he is in the plans of new boss Xisco Munoz for the upcoming season.
