Official: Nigeria native joins Super Eagles midfielder Bonke at FC Lorient
Published: July 25, 2023As confirmed on their official website, French Ligue 1 side FC Lorient have confirmed te signing of Nigeria native, Aiyegun Tosin.
He joins the French side from Swiss side FC Zürich and is the second Nigerian to be representing the club at the moment with the other being Super Eagles midfielder Innocent Bonke.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria and with dual Nigerian-Beninese nationality, Tosin has signed a four-year deal with Lorient and will don the number 27 jersey at his new employers.
Tosin was scouted by former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr during a Europa League second qualifying round game between Bordeaux and Ventspils in August 2018, before committing his international future to the Republic of Benin.
Lorient will be hoping the forward can provide the attacking bite that has been missing since the departure of Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi.
Tosin began his professional career in Latvia with FK Ventspils where he made his mark registering 35 goals and twenty assists in 89 appearances across all competitions.
The 25-year-old then joined FC Zürich in September 2019 and helped them win the Swiss Super League in the 2021/2022 campaign.
In his four seasons with the Swiss side, he posted 35 goals and nine assists in 105 appearances.
