Tottenham Hotspur considering move for 2023 Nigeria U23 invitee
Published: August 01, 2023Tottenham Hotspur have started planning for life without England superstar Harry Kane, who has been heavily linked with a transfer to German Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich in recent days.
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are considering a move for 2023 Nigeria U23 invitee Gift Orban should the sale of Kane to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich go ahead this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur's primary target to replace Kane is Nottingham Forest striker Brennan Johnson, while the names of Orban and Bayern' Munich's Mathys Tel have also been discussed by the recruitment team as alternatives to the homegrown player.
Orban has been attracting interest from clubs across Europe on the back of his outstanding form that saw him score 20 goals in twenty two appearances for KAA Gent in the second half of last season.
And he has picked up where he left off last season, having found the net in his first two competitive games of the new season, against MSK Zilina in the UECL qualifiers and KV Kortrijk in the Belgian Pro League.
The most concrete interest for Orban has come from French Ligue 1 club Lille, who are targeting him as a potential replacement for Jonathan David.
The 21-year-old arrived at Gent in January 2023 and his contract with The Buffalos expires on June 30, 2027.
