Stoke City closing in on the signing of Tottenham-reared midfielder of Nigerian descent

Championship outfit Stoke City are reportedly on the brink of sealing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur-reared midfielder of Nigerian descent, Josh Onomah.

According to TeamTalk, the Potters have offered former Tottenham and Fulham midfielder Josh Onomah a deal at the bet365 Stadium following a successful trial.

The 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup winner with England caught the eye of Stoke boss Alex Neil whilst on trial, and has been offered a one-year contract with the option of an additional season.

Per the report, Onomah has agreed to continue his career at Stoke City and should accept the offer to join the club.

The 26-year-old signed a short team deal with Preston North End in the January transfer window after his contract at Fulham was mutually terminated and went on to play in thirteen games for The Lilywhites in the second half of last season.

He was offered a new contract at Preston North End, but turned down the offer before his deal expired on June 30, 2023.

Onomah is a seasoned campaigner in the Championship, with 112 appearances under his belt for four different clubs, namely Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Preston.

He played in 32 games for Tottenham Hotspur's first team during his time with the club, including thirteen in the Premier League.
