Huddersfield Town take 2023 Golden Eaglets invitee Junaid on trial with a view to a transfer
Published: August 09, 2023Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Championship club Huddersfield Town have taken 2023 Golden Eaglets invitee Toluwa Junaid on trial with a view to a possible transfer this summer.
Junaid trained with Nigeria's U17 national team in April this year and was on the brink of being included in the traveling squad to the Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Algeria after impressing in friendly matches, only to be dropped at the last minute.
After his return to England, he went on trials at Brentford but the London club passed up the opportunity to sign him for the youth team because they have similar players in his position.
However, the Bees noted that he's only began growing and would be a handful when his physical growth is complete.
Junaid is now at The Terriers and went the distance as their U19 team were forced to a 2-2 draw by Mansfield Town in their opening EFL Youth Alliance fixture of the season last weekend.
Huddersfield are impressed with the performances of the promising teenager and have opened preliminary talks with his father over a deal to sign the versatile winger.
Junaid went straight to proper strength and condition training following his return from the Golden Eaglets camp, and it has paid off in a positive way as he's now very strong and much faster in addition to his technical attributes.
The 16-year-old is comfortable playing anywhere across the frontline including left wing, right wing and as a number 9.
