Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam interested in signing Arsenal alum Akpom
Published: August 09, 2023Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have reportedly set their sights on signing Arsenal alum Chuba Akpom this summer.
According to celebrated Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, the Dutch outfit want to bolster their striking department with the addition of the Middlesbrough forward
Should he move to the Amsterdam-based side, he will have to fight for the striking position that is currently being occupied by Brian Brobbey.
Akpom was in sensational form for Boro last season and helped them reach the Championship playoffs but were beaten by Coventry City.
The 27-year-old registered 30 goal contributions in 38 games and scooped the Championship Player of the Season, Boro's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards.
The performance of the Hale End Academy product has attracted the interest of Premier League, French and Bundesliga teams.
Middlesbrough are also currently discussing the possibility of extending his stay at the Riverside Stadium but nothing has been agreed as of now.
He has missed Michael Carrick's side's first two games this term due to a knee injury he suffered last season against Coventry City.
