Official: Real Madrid confirm history-making Nigerian winger has been loaned out to Las Palmas
Published: August 18, 2023With a brief statement on their official website, Real Madrid have confirmed that Spanish-born Nigerian winger Marvin Akinlabi Park has been loaned out to La Liga new boys UD Las Palmas.
Akinlabi entered into the history books as the first Nigeria-eligible footballer to play competitively for Real Madrid’s first team when he made his La Liga debut against Real Sociedad on September 20, 2020.
Since then, he has played three more games for the first team in La Liga, taking his total appearances to four.
Los Blancos have informed that the versatile player will be spending the remainder of the season on loan at Las Palmas.
Akinlabi is returning for a second spell at UD Las Palmas, having spent the whole of last season at the Canary Islands club.
Last season, the 23-year-old participated in a total of 24 games (5 starts), playing a total of 917 minutes and scoring 1 goal at Las Palmas.
Akinlabi will bring versatility to the Las Palmas squad given that he can be deployed as an attacking right-back, right winger and left winger.
An option to buy has been included in the deal taking Akinlabi to Las Palmas.
