'Udogie is very good' - Bournemouth coach picks out the key Tottenham Hotspur players
Published: August 25, 2023Bournemouth's Spanish coach Andoni Iraola has highlighted the Tottenham Hotspur players to watch out for ahead of his side's Premier League clash against the Lilywhites at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Iraola namechecked Destiny Udogie as he spoke about the key players in the Tottenham Hotspur squad.
Having impressed manager Ange Postecoglou during pre-season preparations, the Italy U21 international of Nigerian descent has started the first two games played by Tottenham Hotspur in the new season and gave a good account of himself.
Although Udogie was used a wingback in his two seasons at Udinese, he has played in a left-back role in his first matches for Tottenham, earning a spot in the starting lineup ahead of experienced defender Ben Davies.
The 20-year-old faced his toughest test yet in the Premier League last weekend when he came up against Manchester United forward Antony and played a part in keeping the Brazilian quiet.
In quotes relayed by Bournemouth's official website, Iraola said: "They have a lot of threats. Everyone is talking about Son, Kulusevski or Richarlison, the offensive players and they are very good.
“Bissouma is playing very, very good football and I think Udogie is very good playing in this position [at left-back], a little bit inside, sometimes outside, attacking the half spaces."
Udogie registered fifteen goal involvements (8 goals, 7 assists) during his time at Udinese, which proves that he can contribute at the other end apart from his defensive duties.
