Awoniyi creates Nottingham Forest history after goal v Man Utd; emulates Salah, Adebayor PL feat

Taiwo Awoniyi scored in his seventh consecutive game in the Premier League in Nottingham Forest's 3-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

According to football statisticians OPTA, the Nigeria international has now matched Mohamed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor's record for the longest-scoring streak by an African player in the English Premier League.

The former Union Berlin forward has also become the first Forest player to score in seven straight games.

Awoniyi got his goal in the second minute from a Morgan Gibbs-White's pass and surged forward with speed before burying the ball past Andre Onana.

Two minutes later, Willy Boly extended the away side lead from a controlled header.

Christian Eriksen halved the deficit for Manchester United with a neat strike from Marcus Rashford's cross.

Casemiro leveled the scoreline for Manchester United before Bruno Fernandes got the winner through the penalty spot for Erik Ten Hag's side.

Awoniyi was replaced in the 81st minute by Chris Wood as Forest aimed to salvage a point from the encounter.

Super Eagles right back Ola Aina returned to action for the two-time European champions having missed the last game due to an injury.

The former Torino defender has now made 2 appearances in the Premier League for Steve Cooper's side.
