'I've never seen that before in my life' - Schmeichel blames three Man Utd stars for Awoniyi's goal

Legendary Red Devils goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel reckons that three Manchester United stars were at fault for Taiwo Awoniyi's historic goal in Saturday afternoon's Premier League meeting at Old Trafford.

The Nigeria international created history by being the first Nottingham Forest player to score in seven consecutive games in the Premier League and also matched Mohamed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor's feat of scoring in seven consecutive games in the Premier League.

Awoniyi broke the deadlock in the second minute when he took the ball from inside his own half following a fast counter-attack and slotted past Andre Onana.

The Nottingham Forest striker shrugged off the attentions of Marcus Rashford and made Onana lie on the floor before netting the opener.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper appeared to have made a dive before Awoniyi struck, which made things easier for the Nigerian as pointed out by Peter Schmeichel.

Schmeichel also berated Marcus Rashford and Wan-Bissaka for their defensive frailty in the build-up to Awoniyi's goal.

"First of all, we've got Rashford and Wan-Bissaka. Wan-Bissaka is actually the furthest one back for Manchester United here. I have never seen that before in my life," the Premier League Hall of Famer said on Premier League Productions

"Then you leave that space there, that means if the ball goes into that space, not a Manchester United player, and it does.

"Wan-Bissaka doesn't win a header, Rashford doesn't win the tackle, he's as quick as Awoniyi and then Onana, I don't know what Onana is doing there. He makes it easy for Awoniyi."

Manchester United bounced back from their horror start as they overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2, with Bruno Fernandes netting the game-winner from the spot in the 76th minute.
