Confirmed team news: Super Eagles defender ruled out of Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur

After recording an impressive 2-2 draw at Arsenal this past weekend, Fulham will now turn their attention to another north London club Tottenham Hotspur, whom they face on Tuesday under the lights at Craven Cottage in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Fulham boss Marco Silva confirmed at the pre-match press conference that Calvin Bassey is not available for selection against The Lilywhites, and his absence is not related to injury.

The Nigeria international defender is ineligible to be fielded after he was shown a red card in the closing stages of the draw at Arsenal.

In what was his full Premier League debut following his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam last month, Bassey received a yellow card for time wasting in the 50th minute and was issued a second yellow card and then red for blocking Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah with seven minutes of normal time remaining.

Speaking to reporters at the pre-match press conference, Silva said: "As you know Calvin is going to be out because of the second yellow in the Arsenal match."

Bassey made his Premier League debut against Brentford before he was handed a start at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou revealed after his side's 2-0 win over Bournemouth that Italy U21 international of Nigerian descent Destiny Udogie, who received treatment before being replaced at the Vitality Stadium, was fine.
