England squads: Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham starlets among 11 players of Nigerian descent called up
Published: September 01, 2023The English Football Association announced the Young Lions' rosters on Friday ahead of international matches later this month, with eleven Nigeria-eligible players getting invites.
2023 European U21 champion Noni Madueke has been included in the England U21 squad for an U21 Euro qualifier against Luxemburg and joining the Chelsea winger in the 23-man squad is Samuel Edozie of Southampton.
Edozie has earned his first call-up to England U21s after his fine start to the season, starting every game in the Championship and netting his first senior goal against Queens Park Rangers last weekend.
For the U20 age group, 2023 Flying Eagles invitee Owen Goodman and Brentford forward Michael Olakigbe have been named in the squad for a training camp at St. George's Park as part of the preparations for the U20 Elite League which begins in October.
Crystal Palace loanee Goodman posted his first clean sheet as a professional in Colchester United's 3-0 win at Gillingham last weekend.
Four teenagers in the shape of Arsenal attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, Chelsea duo Tyrique George and Somto Boniface, and Justin Oboavwoduo of Manchester City have received call-ups to the England U18 squad.
Ryan Garry's Young Lions will play host nation France, Japan and Portugal in the Tournoi International in Limoges, with the games holding at the Stade de Beaublanc.
Callum Olusesi, Chukwuemeka Adiele and Femi Fapetu have been included in the England U17 squad heading to Spain for matches against Portugal, Morocco and the host nation.
