Official: Norwich City sign striker of Nigerian descent from Manchester City

With a statement on their official website, Championship club Norwich City have announced the signing of talented striker of Nigerian descent Daniel Ogwuru from Premier League champions Manchester City on a long-term deal.

The Canaries added that the 18-year-old will start his Carrow Road career with the club's academy sides.

Ogwuru was on the books of Manchester City for four years after he was snapped up from Bolton Wanderers at the age of 14.

During his time at Manchester City, he represented their youth teams in the U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup, Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup.

Overall, the 18-year-old totaled 45 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City U18 and U21 teams, scoring 17 goals.

Commenting on his switch to Norwich City, Ogwuru said: "It feels great to sign for the club. When the project was presented to me, I felt like it was a great opportunity.

"The facilities here at the Lotus Training Centre are amazing, it really looks like a place where I can develop myself.

"At Manchester City you learn a lot of football education, you understand the game better."

Ogwuru has cited Manchester City academy product Rico Lewis, who has played 24 first team games under Pep Guardiola, as his role model.

He links up with 2023 Flying Eagles invitee Kenny Coker, former Chelsea schoolboy Dubem Eze and Emmanuel Adegboyega at Norwich City.
