Chelsea keeping an eye on Osimhen's situation after striker's fallout with Napoli
Published: September 27, 2023Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Nigeria international Victor Osimhen ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
Osimhen is considering taking legal action against Napoli after the club posted a video on TikTok mocking him for missing a penalty during the second half of the goalless draw at Bologna last weekend.
The 24-year-old was linked with a possible move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window with Chelsea among his suitors.
The Blues eventually signed Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson who joined for a modest fee of €37m, whereas Osimhen was being valued in the region of 150 million euros by Napoli.
Jackson has not hit the heights expected of him having scored just one goal in seven all-competition appearances and the strike was against Premier League new boys Luton Town.
According to talkSPORT, Chelsea are monitoring the fallout between Osimhen and Napoli, and could use the bizarre spat to step up their interest.
Mauricio Pochettino plans to solve Chelsea's goalscoring woes by signing a striker in the January transfer window, and the Stamford Bridge outfit are among the teams linked with Brentford's Ivan Toney.
Osimhen is under contract at Napoli until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
