Belgian tactician who previously worked with Dennis, Okereke to coach Super Eagles duo at Rangers
Published: October 15, 2023Philippe Clement has become the coach of Super Eagles duo Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.
This follows an official statement on Rangers' website announcing the Belgian tactician as their new manager.
Clement previously worked with former Nigeria U23 internationals Emmanuel Dennis and David Okereke at Club Brugge.
The former Coventry City defender eplaces Michael Beale who was sacked earlier this month after a poor run of results which has left the Light Blues trailing table toppers, Celtic with seven points in the Scottish Premiership table.
The 49-year-old has a reputable record having won three Belgium Pro League titles during his stint at Club Brugge and Genk, and Rangers' management will be hoping he can replicate the same at the Ibrox Stadium.
It has not been the best start for Dessers in Scotland, registering just 3 goals in fifteen all-competition appearances since start of the season.
He will have to work his socks off in the coming weeks to earn the trust of his new manager.
Balogun has not fared any better as he has featured in 2 games since the start of the campaign and will be hoping that the arrival of Clement changes his fortune.
