EPL wrap: Iwobi scores v Wolves; Osho feared injured; Ogunneye in Man Utd squad; Solanke misses penalty

Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of Nigerian players that were in action for their respective clubs in the English Premier League on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Nigerian players with dual nationalities and cap-tied to the senior national teams of other countries have been omitted.

In the early kickoff, at old Trafford, Manchester United returned to winning ways, beating Everton 2-0 thanks to two first half penalties converted by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

There was a hint teenage fullback Habeeb Ogunneye was in contention to be named in United's matchday squad after he missed the development squad's trip to Middlesbrough on Friday.

Ogunneye received his third senior call-up for the visit of the Toffees but remained rooted to the bench for the entirety of the game.

At the Molineux Stadium, Alex Iwobi was on target against his favorite opponent Wolverhampton Wanderers as Fulham suffered a 2-1 loss - their first in three games.

The first half ended goalless, although Tosin Adarabioyo came closest to breaking the deadlock when he smashed his effort against the crossbar.

Goals from Rayan Aït-Nouri and Nelson Semedo saw Wolves go 2-0 up; Iwobi flicked in from close range to half the deficit in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

Iwobi, Tosin and Calvin Bassey played the full game for Marco Silva's team.

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace and Luton Town shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

Jean-Philippe Mateta  thought his goal was enough for the Eagles to secure three points but super-sub Cauley Woodrow rescued a point for the Hatters.

New Super Eagles invitee Gabriel Osho was forced off with a suspected knee injury with nine minutes left on the clock.

Luton Town's Elijah Adebayo and Crystal Palace's Michael Olise are both recovering from hamstring injuries and were not called up for the game.

At the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth battled back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United.

Dominic Solanke could have put the Cherries in front from the spot in the 15th minute but the in-form striker unfortunately slipped and missed the penalty.

Gustavo Hamer and Jack Robinson's goals were canceled out by Dango Ouattara and Enes Ünal.

Blades' Denmark youth international of Nigerian descent William Osula was introduced into the action in the 80th minute.
