Ex-Chelsea captain urges Onyeka to improve his decision making after early booking against Arsenal

Former Chelsea captain Andy Townsend has urged Frank Onyeka to improve his decision making after he was shown a yellow card inside four minutes during Brentford's 2-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

Arsenal are now on an eight-match winning streak in the Premier League but it was their most significant victory bearing in mind the error from goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale that got Brentford back into the game.

A header from Declan Rice opened the scoring in the 18th minute but Ramsdale gifted the visitors the equalizer just before halftime when Yoane Wissa closed him down, blocked his clearance and the ball found its way into the net.

It looked liked Arsenal's winning run was going to come to an end until the 86th minute when Kai Havertz netted his fourth goal in as many games with a timely header.

Onyeka earned himself a booking in the fourth minute for tripping Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard.

Reacting to the yellow card shown to Onyeka, Townsend, who was on commentary duties for the Premier League world feed noted that the late tackle by the Brentford midfielder warranted a yellow card, regardless of the minutes played, whether it's the third or fourth minute, or even the 44th minute

Townsend advised the Nigeria national teamer to focus on making better decisions in the early stages of the game.

Since making his Premier League debut against Arsenal in August 2021, Onyeka has received twelve yellow cards.
