Confirmed: Former teammate to coach Emmanuel Dennis at Watford on an interim basis

With a statement on their official website, Championship outfit Watford have announced that former Manchester United and England midfielder Tom Cleverley will assume the position of Interim head coach at Vicarage Road.

Valérien Ismaël was dismissed by the powers that be at Watford on Saturday following a poor run of results and the straw that broke the camel's back was a 2-1 loss to Coventry City - their sixth defeat in eight matches.

After calling time on his career last year, Cleverley had been coaching Watford U18s, where he worked with Nigerian trio Prince Sikiru, Kash Odiase and Jonathan Lawson.

Cleverley will now be coaching two Nigerian players following his appointment as interim head coach of the first team.

Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Dennis was Cleverly's teammate in his first season at The Vic and the Englishman has also played with former Nigeria U23 international Tom Dele-Bashiru in the past.

Under the dismissed Ismaël, Dennis scored twice in nine Championship appearances, while Dele-Bashiru played in 32 games and registered six goal involvements (3 goals, 3 assists).

Tom Cleverley was a member of the Manchester United side that won the Premier League title in 2013.
