Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta observed talented box-to-box midfielder of Nigerian descent, Andre Annous at close quaters ahead of his side's upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

According to Arsenal youth team guru Jeorge Bird, Andre Annous trained with the Arsenal first-team squad on Tuesday.

With as many as thirteen first team players away on international duty, it is believed that the Spanish football tactician promoted the promising teenager to first team training in order to make up the numbers.

Aged 16, Annous, who comes from a very distinguished Nigerian family, is in his final season as a schoolboy.

He is one of the three players of Nigerian descent offered scholarship deals ahead of next season, the others being goalkeeper Owen Asemota and center forward Chidozie Obi-Martin.

Annous primarily operates as a box-to-box midfielder and is also capable of playing as a winger and as a striker.

He made his competitive debut for Arsenal U18s last month, coming off the bench for the last eight minutes of a 2-2 draw against Southampton in an U18 Premier League fixture.

2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ovie Ejeheri and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji also trained with Arsenal 's first team during the international break and both featured in a friendly against Queens Park Rangers.
