Super Eagles-eligible duo nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month for March 2024
Published: April 02, 2024England youth internationals of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke are in the running for Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for March 2024.
Chelsea's official website has asked the fans to choose from eight stunning strikes from the first team, Women's team and academy squads in the club's quest to determine the Goal of the Month winner for March.
Last month, Mauricio Pochettino's team participated in four matches, collectively scoring eleven goals, and among these goals, four have been nominated for the March award.
Chukwuemeka and Madueke came off the bench to inspire Chelsea to a 4-2 win over Leicester City in the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup and their efforts in stoppage time against the Foxes have been nominated.
In the 92nd minute, Chukwuemeka fired home from close range after exchanging passes with Cole Palmer.
And in the seventh minute of stoppage time, Madueke sealed the win when he produced a moment of magic to find the top corner from outside the box, much to the delight of the Chelsea supporters.
The Anglo-Nigerian duo will go head-to-head with Erin Cuthbert, Mykhailo Mudryk, Mayra Ramirez, Dylan Williams, Dujuan Richards and Cole Palmer for the Goal of the Month award.
Chukwuemeka won Chelsea's Goal of the Month for August 2023 for his maiden professional goal in a 3-1 loss at West Ham United.
