Confirmed Super Falcons starting XI: Ihezuo, Echegini, Abiodun start; Oshoala, Paynes out
Published: April 09, 2024Nigeria manager Randy Waldrum has announced his starting lineup for the second leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier against South Africa's Banyana Banyana at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.
The big news is that former Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool striker Asisat Oshoala has failed to crack the starting lineup, with Waldrum opting to stick with the same players that registered a 1-0 win in the first leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Neither versatile Sevilla midfielder Toni Payne nor PSG-owned defender Nicole Payne secure spots in the starting lineup, as the two sisters are instead listed among the eleven substitutes.
Paris FC shot stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie is in goal, protected by a back four of Michelle Alozie, Ohale Osinachi, Chidinma Okeke and Christy Ucheibe.
As exclusively reported by allnigeriasoccer.com twenty-three hours ago, talented youngster Deborah Abiodun has received the green light to take to the pitch having trained fully with the team in their last three workouts in the lead up to the game.
Abiodun is joined in midfield by Jennifer Echegini and Halimatu Ayinde, with Rasheedat Ajibade, Uchenna Kanu and
Chinwendu Ihezuo set to play in offensive positions.
Nigeria's starting lineup: Nnadozie; Alozie, Ohale, Okeke, Ucheibe; Ayinde, Abiodun; Echegini, Ajibade; Kanu, Ihezuo
Substitutes: Oluehi, Onumonu, Alani, Okoronkwo, Toni Payne, Oshoala, Babajide, Monday, Oladipo, Nicole Payne, Jiwuaku
