Manchester City interested in Olise but 2021 Super Eagles invitee is not top of the wishlist
Published: April 11, 2024Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are interested in signing Michael Olise in the summer transfer window but the 2021 Super Eagles invitee is not the club's top target for one of the positions they want to bolster.
According to The Independent UK, the Citizens want to sign two offensive players who are flexible in terms of position and formation and top of their wishlist is cap-tied Germany international of Nigerian descent, Jamal Musiala.
Almost five years ago, Musiala moved from Chelsea to Bayern Munich with the Blues inserting a sell-on clause into the deal taking him to the Bavarians.
Musiala is still tied to Bayern until 2026 and for him to extend his contract, he wants assurances regarding the club's competitiveness and is also requesting a substantially higher salary.
Manchester City are keen on enhancing their attacking options this summer, especially with Phil Foden assuming a more pivotal role and Kevin De Bruyne entering his mid-thirties.
Besides Musiala, Manchester City are also considering West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta and Crystal Palace's Olise.
A high profile move could be on the horizon for Olise following his outstanding performances for Crystal Palace.
Despite an injury-plagued season, the France U21 international has managed nine goal involvements in twelve Premier League matches,
Last summer, Cobham product Olise was heavily linked with a return to Chelsea but the Eagles fended off the interest to tie him to a new contract until June 30,2027.
