Newcastle in contact with Bournemouth over signing of Chelsea academy product of Nigerian descent

According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle have opened talks with Bournemouth over the transfer of Chelsea academy product Dominic Solanke in the summer.

The Magpies are seeking to sign a striker to replace Callum Wilson who is into the final months of his contract at St.James' Park and Solanke has been identified as the ideal replacement for the England international.

Bournemouth are also said to be interested in Wilson which means a player plus cash deal cannot be ruled out in the negotiation between both clubs.

Newcastle were linked with Solanke in the January transfer window but the Cherries weren't willing to let him go at that point and may find it difficult to do the same in the summer.

Eddie Howe's side will be hoping to secure the signing of the 26-year-old in order to bolster their attack ahead of the next campaign which will likely see them participate in a European competition for the second consecutive season.

Solanke has been one of the most prolific forwards in the Premier League this season having scored 18 goals in 36 games.

His tally is only bettered by EA Spors Player of the Season nominees, Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins.

The Anglo-Nigerian player has three years left on his contract with Bournemouth which means he won't be available for a cheap price.
