AC Milan's Nigeria international drawing interest from Fulham, Wolves, Aston Villa, West Ham
Published: October 28, 2024
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has reportedly attracted interest from four Premier League clubs as he continues to grapple with adapting to Serie A following his move to AC Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023.
Despite his impressive run with Villarreal, where he scored 37 goals and provided 31 assists in 207 appearances across competitions, Chukwueze has struggled to meet expectations with the Rossoneri.
Since arriving in Italy, the Nigerian winger has managed four goals and four assists across 43 games.
His performances have fallen short of the high hopes set by AC Milan, sparking rumours of a possible exit from the club during the upcoming January transfer window.
According to CaughtOffside, Chukwueze has become a potential target for four Premier League clubs, with Fulham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, and West Ham United all reportedly interested in his services.
Among these, Aston Villa is seen as a front-runner, owing largely to Chukwueze's past working relationship with Villa's manager, Unai Emery, during their time together at Villarreal.
Aston Villa's current resurgence in form could also make the club an attractive option for Chukwueze.
The Villans are currently competing in the UEFA Champions League and in contention to finish among the top four teams.
In anticipation of a potential departure, AC Milan has reportedly identified Manchester United winger Antony as a suitable replacement.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has faced difficulties securing a consistent place in the United squad, and his future is even more uncertain following the recent sacking of manager Erik ten Hag, who brought him to the club from Ajax.
Juventus is reportedly monitoring Antony's situation, potentially setting the stage for a bidding war if Milan decides to pursue him as Chukwueze's replacement.
