Is Osayi-Samuel staying or leaving? Marseille join Norwich, Lens in race for Fenerbahce's Osayi-Samuel
Published: October 30, 2024
The future of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Fenerbahçe's prized right-back, hangs in the balance as his contract expiration date draws near.
The Nigerian international's impressive performances have attracted suitors from European clubs, leaving Fenerbahçe facing a tough battle to retain his services.
Galatasaray recently expressed interest in the Blackpool youth alum, sparking speculation about his potential departure from Fenerbahçe.
As per a recent claim, Osayi-Samuel's manager, Steven Beck, has been driving a hard bargain in contract renewal talks with the club's sporting director Mario Branco, demanding an annual salary of 2.5 million Euros.
However, according to fresh reports from Takvim via Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Marseille has now entered the fray, joining Norwich City and Ligue 1 side Lens, who are also reportedly interested in Anambra-born full-back's services.
The French club's coach, De Zerbi, is reportedly keen on adding the 26-year-old to his squad and considering making an offer during the mid-term transfer period.
Fenerbahçe have already proposed a new contract worth 1.5 million euros per year, but Osayi-Samuel is holding out for a better deal.
The former Queens Park Rangers fullback's impressive stint at Fenerbahçe, which includes winning the Turkish Cup in the 2022-2023 season, has made him a hot commodity in the transfer market.
His current contract expires at the end of the season, allowing him to negotiate with other clubs in January and potentially join them on a free transfer next summer.
The Turkish giants are eager to extend Osayi-Samuel's contract, but the sticking point remains his salary demands.
