'A lot of interest' - Arsenal youth team guru Jeorge Bird has his say on the future of Butler-Oyedeji
Published: November 02, 2024
Arsenal academy expert Jeorge Bird has shed light on the transfer speculation surrounding talented youngster Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, who has been linked to German Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 21-year-old's impressive performances for Arsenal's youth setups have caught the attention of several clubs, sparking debate about his future.
The tri-national forward, eligible to represent Nigeria, England, and Saint Vincent, has been consistently scouted by Monchengladbach, with representatives attending his academy games.
Despite having not made his senior debut for the club, his displays for the Under-21s have been remarkable, with five goals and two assists in six appearances this season.
Belgian clubs Standard Liege and Eupen previously considered a permanent move, but he remained at Arsenal.
In a chat with allnigeriasoccer.com, the Arsenal academy insider expressed optimism about Butler-Oyedeji's prospects, whilst also revealing that Monchengladbach is not the only interested party.
"I think he could secure a permanent move either in January or the summer. He deserves the chance to play at senior level," Jeorge Bird said.
"I have heard that a move to Monchengladbach seems unlikely at the moment but there is a lot of interest in him from different clubs."
The Super Eagles-eligible forward continues to impress, scoring against Chelsea in a Premier League 2 fixture and earning a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month.
His form has been exceptional, with a direct participation in twelve goals from nine appearances in all competitions.
