Napoli join Fiorentina as Lookman's favourite opponents in Italian Serie A
Published: November 04, 2024
Ademola Lookman played a key role as Atalanta registered a convincing 3-0 win over Serie A table toppers Napoli at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Ten minutes into the contest, the Nigeria international volleyed the ball home from close range after he was not picked up by the Napoli defence.
Lookman stunned Antonio Conte's team again just past the half hour mark when he unleased an unstoppable shot from outside the box.
By netting a brace at the Diego Maradona Stadium, the Super Eagles star took his tally against Napoli to four goals from five appearances in the Serie A.
Napoli have now joined Fiorentina as Lookman's favorite opponents in the Serie A in terms of goals scored as the Ballon d'Or nominee has also notched four goals against the Purples.
His two goals against Napoli marked his second brace in an away match in the Serie A, with the first coming against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on January 22, 2023.
Including his hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final, Lookman has directly participated in 28 goals (17 goals, 11 assists) since the start of 2024, more than any other Serie A player.
According to the official Serie A match report, Lookman was the stats leader for most shots overall (3), key passes (3) and shots on target (2) for the matchday eleven fixture between Napoli and Atalanta.
