Bayer Leverkusen's Nigeria international Victor Boniface a transfer target for Manchester United
Published: November 25, 2024
Manchester United are considering a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface who has continued to impress in the colours of Bayer Leverkusen, scoring eight goals across all competitions this campaign.
According to German Bundesliga transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, the Premier League giants have the Nigerian forward in their shortlist of strikers being targeted as they seek to end their goal-scoring woes.
As stated in the report, they intend on getting a new striker in the winter transfer window. If they fail to get one by then, they will continue their search in the summer.
Getting Boniface is highly unlikely in January due to Bayer Leverkusen needing the services of the striker but a move for him in the summer is more feasible.
A move for the Nigeria international won't come cheap as his deal with Bayer Leverkusen ends in the summer of 2028.
Only Everton, Crystal Palace, and Southampton have scored fewer goals in the Premier League than the Old Trafford outfit, though they have been better in the UEFA Europa League, scoring seven goals in four games.
Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have three goals between them, and both were dropped to the bench in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge of the Red Devils as Marcus Rashford was asked to lead the line.
There are already reports of Zirkzee moving back to Italy with Juventus credited with an interest in the Dutch international as a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, a move which will also reunite him with his former boss, Thiago Motta.
