Nigerian goal machine to sign new deal with Manchester United on Friday
Published: November 26, 2024
Danish-born Nigerian center forward Chido Obi-Martin is set to sign his first professional contract with Manchester United on Friday, November 29, the day he turns 17.
Obi-Martin made a name for himself in English football during a sensational campaign with Arsenal's youth team last season, where he delivered an incredible 32 goals in just 18 matches, cementing his status as one of the brightest young talents in the sport.
His exceptional performances caught the attention of Manchester United, who secured his signature during the summer transfer window, despite Arsenal's efforts to retain him.
The free-scoring striker reportedly opted for the Red Devils due to their project, which promised him a quicker pathway to first-team football.
According to Tipsbladet.dk, Manchester United are poised to honour their commitment by signing him to his first professional contract when he turns 17 on Friday, November 29.
Currently playing with Manchester United's U18 side, Obi-Martin has already showcased his immense potential.
He made a stunning full debut for United's U18s, scoring a hat-trick in just 15 minutes against Nottingham Forest.
Since then, he has tallied four goals and one assist in four U18 Premier League matches, underlining his consistency and finishing prowess.
As part of his development plan, Obi-Martin will also have opportunities to play for Manchester United's U21 team and train with the senior squad. His progress has positioned him as a future star for the club.
