'A correct and beautiful transfer' - Former European Golden Shoe winner waxes lyrical about Osimhen
Published: December 31, 2024
Former European Golden Shoe winner Tanju Çolak has praised Victor Osimhen’s impact since joining Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The Super Eagles striker is currently on loan with the Trendyol Süper Lig defending champions and has been in scintillating form, establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers.
Osimhen is averaging at least a goal involvement per league game, with nine goals and three assists to his name.
This makes him the player with the second-highest goal contributions in the Turkish top flight this season.
The 26-year-old’s exceptional form extends beyond the Süper Lig, as he has also been instrumental in Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League campaign.
Osimhen has helped position the club as one of the top contenders for the title, contributing three goals and two assists in four games.
Remarkably, he has only failed to record either a goal or an assist in one Europa League match.
Çolak has expressed admiration for the former African Men’s Player of the Year, describing his transfer to Galatasaray as a masterstroke.
In quotes relayed by Haber Sarı Kırmızı, the former Turkish footballer stated: "A correct and beautiful transfer. A number 10 transfer who came when no one expected. The most important thing is Osimhen's adaptation to the team and Istanbul. He is a leader and top scorer who loves his job, works hard even in training.
"He is very smart, his superiority in aerial balls, his dribbling, his shots, his ability to easily enter goal positions, his pressing, his ability to come and get the ball even in corners show that he is a very important and special player. He achieved good statistics."
Çolak has also backed the Nigerian striker to stay with the Lions until the end of the season, despite rumors linking him with a move away from the club.
"Victor Osimhen will probably not leave during the break. Galatasaray will not let Osimhen go. I think Osimhen will continue with the same performance. His football friends also love and trust him very much."
Galatasaray currently sit atop the Süper Lig standings and have already secured a spot in the Europa League knockout stages.
The team will be counting on Osimhen’s continued brilliance as they aim to secure silverware in both competitions.
