Arsenal old boy Akinola named in Chesterfield's matchday squad against MK Dons after loan recall
Published: January 01, 2025
With a statement on their official website, League Two club Chesterfield have confirmed that Arsenal youth product Tim Akinola has been recalled from his loan spell at National League outfit Dagenham & Redbridge, with effect from January 1, 2025.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that the 2022 Nigeria U23 invitee has been included in Chesterfield's matchday squad for their League Two clash against MK Dons at the SMH Group Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Akinola returned to English football in May 2024, signing a one-year deal with The Spireites, including a club option for the 2025-2026 season, after a previous stint with the team during his time at Arsenal.
Before his loan move to Dagenham & Redbridge, he played two games for his parent club, one against Manchester City in the EFL Trophy and the other against Derby County in the Carabao Cup.
Akinola found game time hard to come by at the Daggers, where he logged 237 minutes spread across five matches in the fifth tier of English football.
The central midfielder will aim to make his Football League debut if he is not loaned out again during the second half of the season.
In August, he was called up for the league games against Swindon Town and Salford City but he didn't come off the bench in either game.
Akinola made thirty-one appearances in all competitions during his first spell at Chesterfield, helping them qualify for the National League playoffs.
