Owen Oseni: St Mirren beat EFL League One and Two clubs to sign Irish-Nigerian attacker
Published: January 01, 2025
Through a statement on their official website, St Mirren have announced the signing of Irish-Nigerian attacker Owen Oseni from Gateshead FC.
The 21-year-old forward has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal, subject to clearance, after the Buddies beat off competition from several EFL League One and Two clubs.
Oseni's impressive form at Gateshead FC, where he scored 12 goals in 24 appearances in the National League, caught the attention of St Mirren and other clubs in England.
His pace, directness, and goal-scoring ability made him an attractive target for the Scottish Premiership side.
The club's manager Stephen Robinson, is confident that the young attacker has the potential to make a significant impact at St Mirren, and is excited to see him develop.
He believes that Oseni has the right attitude and work ethic to thrive at the club, as he looks forward to working with him and helping him to fulfill his potential.
Oseni's signing is seen as a long-term investment by the club, and officials are not expecting him to be thrown straight into the starting lineup.
However, they do believe that he will play a significant role in the second half of the season, and are excited to see him make his debut for the club.
Oseni will look to be a vital player for St Mirren who will resume their league campaign against Kilmarnock on January 2nd away from home.
St Mirren currently sit fifth in the league standings after twenty matchdays, tied on points with Motherwell, who have a game in hand.
