Remember the names: Meet the three players taking the NPFL by storm this season
Published: January 12, 2025
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the country's top-tier football competition, continues to showcase some of the brightest talents in Nigerian football.
This season, three standout performers, Anas Yusuf, Emmanuel Ogbole, and Papa Daniel have caught the eye with their remarkable contributions on the pitch.
Anas Yusuf (Nasarawa United)
Anas Yusuf has been a revelation this season, emerging as the league's current top scorer with 11 goals and one assists in just 16 matches.
The Nasarawa United forward has proven to be a nightmare for defenders, combining blistering pace with excellent dribbling skills.
Despite primarily operating as a wide forward, Yusuf has shown exceptional composure in front of goal, making him one of the most dangerous attackers in the NPFL this campaign.
The 20-year-old forward can play on both wings as he's good with both feet.
Emmanuel Ogbole (Kwara United)
Emmanuel Ogbole has also been a standout performer this season since joining Kwara United from Nasarawa United.
The 21-year-old forward has continued to impress with his intelligent style of play, often drawing comparisons to Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus due to his link-up play and movement off the ball.
Ogbole is a versatile forward capable of playing across multiple attacking positions and even behind the main striker.
His technical skills, positioning, and ability to drop deep and influence the build-up have made him a key figure in Kwara United's attack.
He has scored seven goals in ten league appearances.
Papa Daniel (Niger Tornadoes)
Papa Daniel has been a midfield maestro for Niger Tornadoes this season.
The 23-year-old left-footed midfielder is known for his deep runs from midfield, which often destabilize opposition defenses and create scoring opportunities for his team.
Daniel's versatility allows him to operate across all three midfield positions, and his impressive work rate, and passing ability have made him a vital part of the Tornadoes' setup.
His vision and ability to dictate the tempo from midfield make him one of the most promising midfielders in the NPFL.
