Orlando Pirates provides injury update on Super Eagles centre-back Ndah
Published: January 12, 2025
South African giants Orlando Pirates have offered a positive update on the injury status of Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah, who has been sidelined since September 2024.
The 26-year-old center-back suffered a tibia fracture during a Premiership clash with Polokwane City, forcing him to miss several crucial matches, including the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC.
According to the Buccaneers' medical team via the club's official website, Ndah has been given the green light to commence field-based training, which will include conditioning exercises to aid his recovery.
This development is a welcome boost for Orlando Pirates, who are competing on three fronts – the league, Champions League, and Nedbank Cup – in 2025.
Ndah's injury had also ruled him out of international duty, with the Super Eagles defender missing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya, Benin and Rwanda.
Prior to his injury, Ndah had been a regular feature for Orlando Pirates, making 81 appearances and scoring one goal since joining the club in 2021.
The Nigerian international's strong performances have attracted interest from European clubs, sparking speculation about a potential move abroad.
Ndah had recently expressed his willingness to explore opportunities beyond Orlando Pirates, fueling rumors about his future.
As Ndah continues his rehabilitation, Orlando Pirates will be eager to have him back to full fitness, given his importance to the team.
With the congested fixture list in 2025, manager Jose Riveiro will need all his players fit and ready to navigate the demands of competing on multiple fronts.
